Turkey Breast, Ham, Bacon, LTO, Mayo, CSS (secret sauce) and a spicy sweet Balboa sauce
Balboa
Newest Sub on Capt’n Nemo’s Menu
Invented in 2012, The Balboa began as a creation of Ms. Duffy’s marketing class project at New Trier High School. With ingredients similar to a turkey bacon club with ham – the spicy Balboa sauce blends brilliantly with the CSS (captain’s secret sauce). As a result of astounding sales, the item has become permanent on the Capt’n Nemo’s Menu. You can even order the Balboa on a Sub d’oeuvre tray.
Shown here cut for a sub d’oeuvre deli platter each piece has it’s color coded cocktail toothpick with a matching identification label on the tray. The traditional style sub has the more meat than bread concept from the 1970’s. It is listed on our menu Sub Sandwich Menu
Still pretty much same now as then
Any restaurant person understands, longevity is its own proof. With a fantastic restaurant food culture in Chicago, Capt’n Nemo’s continues their tradition. Not much changes and that’s fine. Sourcing raw fresh ingredients has been the same to us so we never needed to advertise our authenticity.
Best Local sub vs National size can matter
Is a local chain of sandwich shops big? Does the food taste good? Do you like the place? National chains with excellent advertising and the money to promulgate their brand have the advantage. It is called the food business.
Small local guys have signature items and the soups at Nemo’s differ from others. Made in single batches rather than continuous tubular cooking of factories, the other items are tasty as well as the Italian Sub.
